Sure, let’s be thankful for company-provided trainings. Let’s attend that seminar because we get to be someplace else besides the office. It’s all good anyway, we’re still paid while we listen to someone we don’t know talk about something, hopefully about things we want to get better at. We’re probably given certificates too, after this is over, and we can attach that to our resumes, make our profile look better.
But why wait until our employers send us to conventions or expos, if our goal is to learn and become experts? Why not look for the information we seek ourselves and study now, right this minute? What’s stopping us? Are we not able to create our own training menus, scheduled on our own pace, getting more out of the experience? Aren’t we supposed to be resourceful?
